Oil Painting

- If you already own oil paints, bring them all, plus your brushes and your palette. I will sort through your supplies and see what else you might need.

Paints: 37ml regular size tubes unless otherwise noted
Titanium white (large tube 120 ml.) Recommend Graham brand or permalba
brand for your white paint
Ivory black
Raw Umber (recommend winsor newton brand raw umber green shade)
Burnt umber
Burnt Sienna
Yellow Ochre
Hansa Yellow light or Cadmium yellow lemon
Cadmium orange
Cadmium red light
Alizarin crimson or permanent alizarin
Ultramarine blue
Cerulean blue "hue"
Viridian

There are many good brands of oil paint - I usually use Graham, winsor
newton, holbein, utrecht or gamblin brands.

Brushes:
Get your brushes on the internet:

Google "Kalish Brush" or click here:
http://www.kalishfinestbrushes.biz/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=SFNT&Store_Code=KFB

This is my recommendation of brushes to get from Kalish:
Series 65 - finest chungking bristle
Size 4 (one)
Size 6 (get 2)
Size 8 (one)
Size 10 (one)

Series 55 - pure mongoose
size 8
size 10
size 14

Series 41 - finest red sable
size 4

I also recommend their "deluxe brush bag."
Kalish does sell paint too - it is the same flat fee for shipping no
matter what you order.

Other Stuff:
Masterson Palette seal box (for Oil - has blue lid, not red)  12" x 16"
Wax paper palette pad to insert in palette seal box (12" x 16")
metal trowel type small (1.5 - 2") triangular palette knife - play
with it in the store and make sure the welding is good and that it is
flexible.
masking tape - low tack, such as the blue painters tape.
16" x 20" (approx) board to tape your canvas paper to - thin plywood,
or masonite?
Turpenoid (pint or quart - get the kind in the blue can, NOT the green
"turpenoid Natural")
- silicoil tank or metal brush washing  container (the turpenoid goes in here)
9 x 12" pad of canvas paper
black sharpie marker
small container of "masters brush cleaner and conditioner"
paper towels

If you have trouble finding anything, call me on my cell from the art
store and I will help.  There are 2 fine art stores in Boulder -
Guirys and Meiningers.  You can probably find what you need at
Michaels or Hobby Lobby also..

Everything should be available locally except the brushes.  I highly
recommend that you buy the Kalish brushes on the internet - you will
not be able to find them in local art stores - it will save you a lot
of money, and you will get better quality.
