Welcome to my Atelier, a French word used in the nineteenth century to describe a small private art school run by one instructor.

This school grew out of my connection to the Colorado Academy of Art  (CAA) in Boulder Colorado.   CAA had a full time certificate program in classical techniques of Drawing, Painting, and Sculpture.  I was honored to be one of the main faculty members, along with David Larsson and Ileana Barbu.  I taught at CAA for four years until it was forced to close in June of 2008 due to financial difficulties.  When CAA closed, a void was left in the community.  Students who were enrolled in the full time program wanted to continue their studies, and their committment to further their educations was the spark for my opening my own Atelier.

I am delighted that my school has met with such enthusiasm and support.  Most of my classes are at or near capacity, and I feel very fortunate to have such a talented group to work with.  The beauty of the Atelier system is that students can continue to master their craft in an ongoing fashion, without the limits set by terms or semesters.  In addition, the grouping of different level students together allows the more advanced students to inspire the newer students.  Synergy and a common purpose provide a constant source of energy to the entire group.
